Brain Injury Association of New York State: Weapons Policy

The Brain Injury Association of New York State (“BIANYS”) is committed to promoting the health and well-being of its members. Consistent with its mission, BIANYS adopts the following policy regarding the possession of weapons on BIANYS property and at BIANYS events:

The possession of weapons on BIANYS property or at events held by BIANYS is expressly prohibited. Additionally, the possession of a weapon is forbidden at any location or event where an individual represents BIANYS or is engaged in business on BIANYS’s behalf. The possession of weapons, including firearms, is prohibited by BIANYS regardless of whether such possession is otherwise allowed by law.

Weapons include, but are not limited to pistols, rifles, shotguns or other firearms, clubs or other bludgeons, knives or swords with blades over two inches in length, explosives, and any chemical, device, or material intended to cause physical harm. BIANYS, in its sole discretion, will determine whether a particular item is considered a weapon for purposes of this policy.

Membership in BIANYS and attendance at BIANYS events is conditioned upon acceptance and compliance with this policy. Failure to abide by the terms of this policy may result in discontinuance of individuals’ membership in BIANYS and/or refusal of entry into BIANYS events.
