Meeting the Needs of Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury

Brain injuries happen in an instant, but can bring a lifetime of physical, cognitive, emotional and behavioral changes. TBI is the signature injury of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as the rate of combat-related brain injuries in returning soldiers is higher than in previous conflicts. Margo Singer, CBIS, BIANYS Brain Injury Training Specialist will discuss the symptoms and challenges of TBI as experienced by military members, and will explain services to assist persons with brain injury, as well as supports for their families.

• Signs and symptoms of TBI and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
• Challenges faced by veterans with TBI
• Resources for professionals working with veterans and their families
