Every story of resilience fuels our mission. Sue, a caregiver from Saratoga County, found herself overwhelmed after her son’s traumatic brain injury. Through BIANYS’s Continuum of Care program, she received the support and resources she needed, transforming her family’s journey from isolation to empowerment.

“Richard, my 41-year-old son, sustained a traumatic brain injury after a serious car accident. He was in a coma, on a ventilator, and needed full-time skilled nursing care. I was by his bedside every day, praying he would wake up. From the beginning, I felt overwhelmed—I could barely think. I slept in my car just to be close to him. Then I found out about BIANYS and their Continuum of Care (COC) program, and it changed everything. The COC team took some of the pressure off me. Their expertise, persistence, and support were a lifeline when I felt hopeless and alone. They helped get my son transferred closer to home, where the family can visit and support his care team. This experience has been emotionally draining, and I can’t imagine how I would have held on without the support, information, and resources from the COC.”

This is just one of many lives touched by our advocacy, programs, and services—including our Helpline, Support Groups, Professional Training, and ongoing legislative efforts.
