Description
Survivors of Brain Injury often have questions for their practitioner regarding non pharmacologic treatments for brain injury. In this structured workshop we will review literature regarding medical marijuana, mindfulness practices, the importance of exercise programs and other non-pharmacological programs that may be explored in the recovery period after TBI.
Instructors
Heidi Fusco, MD
Dr. Fusco is an Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Medicine at NYU Langone Health and the Rusk Institute of Rehab. She is board certified in PM&R and Brain Injury Rehab Medicine. She completed her training at Spaulding Rehab Hospital and Fellowship at NYU. She cares for patients with brain injury in the Rusk inpatient rehabilitation unit and outpatient rehabilitation center. In addition, she is the brain injury medical director at Queens Nassau Rehab and Nursing Home in Far Rockaway.
Chelsea Schoen, PhD
Dr. Chelsea Schoen is a clinical psychologist with specialized training in rehabilitation psychology and neuropsychology, who currently provides assessment and intervention services to adults in the acute inpatient rehabilitation setting at NYU Langone Health, Rusk Rehabilitation.
Jennifer Russo, MD
Dr. Jennifer Russo is a graduate of Burke Rehabilitation Hospital’s PM&R Residency training program and the current Brain Injury Medicine Fellow at NYU Langone’s Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine.
