SARATOGA, N.Y.: March 8, 2018 –  The Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS) announced today the return of the Professional Symposium to Saratoga Springs, New York on June 12. This year, the Professional Symposium will feature a new format and theme focusing on milestones in childhood brain injury.

“We are thrilled about the schedule for this year’s Professional Symposium,” said Eileen Reardon, Executive Director for the Brain Injury Association of New York State. “We have leading medical professionals from across the state addressing milestones in childhood brain injury with a focus on a map to recovery. Brain injury is complex, often impacting physical and cognitive abilities.   It is extremely important for professionals working in this field or with children in any capacity to understand the complexity of the issues.”

Professionals and specialists in the fields of brain injury medicine and rehabilitation will come together to learn about advances in treatment, network with other professionals and gain access to cutting-edge research and information.  The new format will also provide an opportunity for educators, athletic trainers and other professionals working with youth to gain knowledge about childhood brain injury and how to navigate healthcare systems during different stages in the individual recovery process.

This live program will feature four modules focusing on the following presentation topics: Youth Rehabilitation; Transitioning to School; Success in School and Transitioning to Adult Services and Supports. Live stream options are available for those who are unable to attend the in-person presentations.
